The second season of Daredevil: Born Again is heading into production and there’s news about new actors joining the series. According to Deadline, veteran actor Matthew Lillard is joining the cast of the second season. His character’s identity is under lock and key. The first season premieres on Disney+ with two episodes on March 4th.
The series is a continuation of the Netflix-branded TV series that aired between 2015 and 2018. It picks up with Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), a blind lawyer with heightened abilities, who moonlights as the superhero Daredevil. His adversary Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) pursues his own political endeavors in New York. As the season goes on, both men end up on a collision course that could expose both of their identities.
The series was announced at D23 2023 and went through a creative overhaul due to the Writer’s Strike last year. The show is garnering glowing reactions from social media so far. It also sees the return of actors Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, and Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle. The cast also includes Margarita Levieva, Ayelet Zurer, Zabryna Guevara, Nikki M. James, Genneya Walton, Arty Froushan, Clark Johnson, Michael Gandolfini, Wilson Bethel, and Tony Dalton.
Dario Scardapane (The Punisher) served as showrunner and will be back in that capacity for Season 2. The EPs are Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Sana Amanat, Dario Scardapane, Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead.
What Has Matthew Lillard Been Up To?
Matthew Lillard has been in plenty of big films over the past couple of years including Five Nights At Freddy’s and the Amazon series Cross. He’ll also make his return to the Scream franchise with Scream 7, but how he fits into that movie has yet to be revealed. He’ll also star in the Stephen King adaptation The Life of Chuck from Mike Flanagan. That film releases in theaters on June 6th.
