It looks like Crunchyroll are making their own showing at New York Comic-Con 2021 alongside Funimation. They’ve got their own anime to show off though, with one of them being Blade Runner: Black Lotus. They’ve even got a brand new trailer for it. Check it out below:

Ah, now that’s more like the Blade Runner we know and love.

It’s not just this trailer Crunchyroll (and Adult Swim) have to reveal about Blade Runner: Black Lotus though. They’ve also decided on a release date for this anime spinoff of Blade Runner. Apparently, we’ll finally get to see it on November 13, 2021 at 9 PM (PT). The premiere also won’t just consist of a single episode, but 2. It will be a back-to-back feature, giving audiences a decently good start to the story. Hopefully, it will mollify fans who were a bit put off by the initial trailer.

A 1950’s style spinner? I’ll take it.

Crunchyroll at NYCC 2021: Shenmue Is An Anime Now?!

I never thought this game would ever get an anime. Maybe there’s hope for other classic games too?

It’s not just Blade Runner: Black Lotus news that Crunchyroll has to offer us at New York Comic-Con 2021. As it turns out, they’re also announcing Shenmue the Animation with that trailer above. Yes, you heard that right: Shenmue is finally getting an anime 22 years after the release of the 1st game on the Sega Dreamcast. We’ll apparently get to see the anime version of one of the best action-adventure video games of all time sometime next year in 2022. The trailer doesn’t get anymore specific than that. We’ll have to wait for more info from Crunchyroll at a later date.

I swear, this looks like a Chinese martial arts anime rather than a Japanese anime.

Conclusion

Crunchyroll unveiled the release date for Blade Runner: Black Lotus at New York Comic-Con 2021. Apparently, we’ll get to see its 2-episode premiere on November 13, 2021. That’s not all though. Crunchyroll also gave us a first look at Shenmue the Animation, coming sometime in 2022. While the date itself is vague, the fact that one of the best action-adventure games of all time is getting an anime after 22 years is enough to drum up the hype on its own. We’ll just have to wait to see if it lives up to its legacy.
