New photos from the set of Batgirl show off that Michael Keaton‘s Batman has a Robin. The new DCEU film stars Leslie Grace as Barbara Gordon in the character’s first live-action film. Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah direct a script written by Christina Hodson. Batgirl serves as an origin story for the character that also sees the return of Keaton to the character of Bruce Wayne/Batman. Brendan Fraser also stars in the film as the villain, Firefly.
The new photos, courtesy of GlasgowLive, show off some of the set dressing and backgrounds for the film. One backdrop, in particular, is a mural showing off Batman’s sidekick, Robin. The last time we saw a depiction of Robin on-screen was in The Dark Knight Rises. This time, he’s in full costume.
There’s no indication or casting news that Robin appears in the film, but we’ve had bigger surprises in films before. It does, however, mean that Robin exists in the universe that Batgirl belongs to. After The Flash, the possibilities for the DCEU are endless. That film sees the return of Michael Keaton as Batman and more.
Batgirl doesn’t have a release date yet, but it’s set for sometime in later 2022.
