Kevin Feige has been out doing press in anticipation of the Spider-Man: Far from Home theatrical release.  While he is still not revealing Marvel Studio’s plan for the next phase of MCU films, he has addressed some of the recent rumors.

With regards to the recent rumors that Keanu Reeves was being cast in the upcoming Eternals film, Feige told Comicbook.com that they’ve been trying to get the actor onboard for a while now:

“We talk to him for almost every film we make. I don’t know when, if, or ever he’ll join the MCU, but we very much want to figure out the right way to do it.”

Reeves was linked to Captain Marvel at one time, so Marvel Studios definitely wants him onboard.  With the all-star cast they are pulling together for the Eternals movie, maybe this will be the project we finally see that happen.

What about the Spider-Man crossover rumors?

Now that Disney’s acquisition of Fox is complete, fans expect Marvel to start incorporating X-Men franchise characters into the MCU. One of the most recent rumors that gained steam online was that Deadpool was going to make an appearance in the Spider-Man movie.  However, Feige says not to expect a crossover anytime soon:

“No I mean we’re certainly having conversations about the future of all of those Fox properties,’ Feige said. “How to weave them in and when to weave them in. That one, in particular, is not the case.”

Another online rumor has been circulating that Marvel wants Sony’s Venom to crossover in the next Spider-Man movie, which would bring him into the MCU fold. Over at Cinema Blend Feige had the following to say about that:

“I think probably it’s up to Sony. Sony has both those characters and, has Venom in their world. I don’t know what their plans are for another Venom or if they’re doing that. But it seems likely at some point.”

At this point it looks like the comic books are the only places we’ll see these crossovers. Spider-Man: Far From Home arrives in theaters on July 2nd.
