The house that made Bob’s Burgers, Family Guy, and more in the animated comedy sphere is taking a stab at The X-Files. Currently titled: The X-Files: Albuquerque, it comes from the original creator, Chris Carter. The show follows a group of agents that investigate happenings, cases, and more that are too out there for Mulder and Scully. This is the C-Team at the X-Files. Rocky Russo and Jeremy Sosenko are writing and producing the show. Unfortunately Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny aren’t attached to the show right now.

The original X-Files was a revelation for Fox and TV in general. That show ushered in a new era for science-fiction/horror TV that lasts to this day. The original series ran for 11 seasons and is on hiatus right now. This new show would undoubtedly take up the more comedic side of the paranormal investigations that the original show glosses over.

The sci-fi comedy genre of animation just had a new addition in Star Trek: Lower Decks. This new show could reinvigorate the genre and bring in a new era of X-Files.

As a huge fan of the original series and the two movies, The X-Files could use a bit of an extended universe. The original source material is so ripe with possibilities, but they just haven’t been explored. Sure, not having Scully or Mulder is a loss, but there’s more to the X-Files than just them. We’ll have to see when the show comes out.
