As soon as the world became aware of it, debate began as to whether or not Colin Trevorrow’s version of Star Wars: Episode IX would have been better than The Rise of Skywalker. We’ll never know, of course. Trevorrow’s script never went into production. Now however, we can get an idea of what it might have looked like… in animate form, at least. If you’re bored and looking for something to do during quarantine, check out the animated Trevorrow version of Episode IX  above!

From Chewbacca piloting an X-wing to a significant Luke Skywalker Force ghost presence, the Trevorrow version of Episode IX was much, much different that what we saw in theaters. The animated Trevorrow version of Episode IX, while tongue-in-cheek, provides a surprising amount of detail in just a few minutes.

The video jumps right into the digs at The Rise of Skywalker. First it notes that Rose is in this version “for more than seventy-six seconds.” Then there’s the obvious knock at the Palpatine’s return in the cinematic version.

All in all the animated Trevorrow version is an entertaining romp through what could have been. Let us know your thoughts on this animated take on Star Wars: Episode IX in the comments below!

Otherwise, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker arrives on Blu-ray today.
