You heard that right, Amazon Studios and superstar basketball player Steph Curry are bringing the intergalactic travelers looking for some funk, ToeJam & Earl to the big screen.

The 1990s SEGA video game ToeJam & Earl is getting an adaptation from Amazon Studios and Curry’s Unanimous Media and Story Kitchen. ToeJam & Earl was created by Mark Voorsanger and Greg Johnson in the ’90s and centers on the two titular aliens who crash land on Earth looking for the cure to a disease that’s eradicating their home planet’s rhythm, funk, and groove.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that the video game series is getting an adaptation and will be written by Amos Vernon and Nunzio Randazzo, the writers behind Hotel Transylvania 4 and the upcoming Disney+ series, Superfudge.

Here’s the synopsis for the film:

Earth, their legends tell them, is the Paradise where the music that created their culture originated. Unfortunately for our heroes, not only do they wreck their ship, but they find that Earth is . . . well, not the haven they expected. But the music – that part was true. So begins their quest to find as much of that music as they can in the hope of saving their planet, and maybe ours as well.

ToeJam & Earl spawned a franchise for SEGA in the 1990’s that lasted for three sequels in ToeJam & Earl in Panic on Funkotron, ToeJam & Earl III: Mission to Earth, and Toejam & Earl: Back In The Groove.
