Fall Out Boy are one of the biggest rock/pop punk bands out there and now they’ve checked off a Billy Joel cover from their career checklist. Check out the lyric video complete with updated historical events below.

So the original Billy Joel song covered historical events from 1949 to 1989. This new version goes from 1989 to 2023. However, the original Billy Joel song went chronologically, this new cover just seems to list historical events randomly as they want to. As for the music, it fits Fall Out Boy’s style pretty well.

It’ll be a fun exercise to get both versions back to back. Everyone has always asked Billy Joel to update the song with new historical events, but he’s been outspoken about how the song isn’t one of his favorites.

Fall Out Boy are currently on their So Much For (Tour) Dust tour of North America with Bring Me The Horizon, Royal & The Serpent, Alkaline Trio, New Found Glory, Four Year Strong, The Academy Is, Games We Play, Daisy Grenade, and Carr. You can listen to their new album So Much (For) Stardust. Grab tickets and other information from their website.

So, what do you think of Fall Out Boy’s cover? Are you a fan of it?
