Guitar Legend Jeff Beck Passes Away At 78

Jeff Beck, one of the most influential and greatest guitarists of all time died on Tuesday at the age of 78. He rose to fame as a member of The Yardbirds and in his solo career.

His family said in a statement on Wednesday:

It is with deep and profound sadness that we share the news of Jeff Beck’s passing. After suddenly contracting bacterial meningitis, he peacefully passed away yesterday. His family ask for privacy while they process this tremendous loss.

Beck was an eight-time Grammy Award winner and routinely ranks in the top 10 of any greatest guitarist lists. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as both a solo artist and a member of The Yardbirds. His style on the guitar paved the way for artists across multiple genres like metal, rock, hard rock, psych rock, and more.

He was born in 1944 in Wallington, South London. He recently released his final album `18 last year, and also joined Ozzy Osbourne on his record Patient Number 9.
