One of the things I love the most about metal is that the music is fluid. In other genres, there’d be huge eyebrows if a band covered a song like “Blue (Da Ba Dee)”. The Eiffel 65 classic doesn’t exactly scream metal, especially death metal. But somehow the wizards from Nuclear Blast Records and Fleshgod Apocalypse made an insane cover of the 90’s Italian Eurodance song with “Blue (Turns to Red)”. In the video, Eugene Ryabchenko jams out the drum track for the song. The orchestral death metal masters bring their distinct style to the classic song in a way that sounds natural but different.

Ryabchenko had this to say about the track:

Not gonna lie I never thought a pop hit could be this challenging on drums. With Fleshgod’s signature sound the arrangements took a completely different form. I am pretty sure one way or another it “blue” some people’s minds.

Check it out for yourself! Also give their latest album Veleno a listen wherever you stream or buy your favorite metal music. It’s their first album since 2016’s King. Their style is that they combine classic death metal with orchestral music. So they record the metal in the studio and record the orchestral music elsewhere. It’s a combination, like Italian Eurodance and Death Metal, that you wouldn’t think could work. But in the end, it comes out flawlessly.

Make sure to check out Fleshgod Apocalypse and any of the other amazing metal bands at Nuclear Blast Records.
