The multi-year Cage renaissance continues at Netflix. They’re introducing a new show titled A History of Swear Words with Nicolas Cage. It’s described in the press release as:

An education in expletives: the history lesson you didn’t know you needed. History of Swear Words, hosted by Nicolas Cage, is a loud and proudly profane series that explores the origins, pop culture-usage, science and cultural impact of curse words. Through interviews with experts in etymology, pop culture, historians and entertainers, the six-episode series dives into the origins of “F**k”, “Sh*t”, “B*tch”, “D**k”, “Pu**y”, and “Damn”.

So if you’ve ever needed to know where certain swear words come from, here’s your chance. In addition to Cage, the show will feature various guest stars. Stars like: Joel Kim Booster, DeRay Davis, Open Mike Eagle, Nikki Glaser, Patti Harrison, London Hughes, Jim Jefferies, Zainab Johnson, Nick Offerman, Sarah Silverman, Baron Vaughn, and Isiah Whitlock Jr..

But it doesn’t stop there, because sure, listening to a bunch of comedians drone on about their favorite swear words would be fun, it’s more fun to hear from experts in the field. So you’re going to get experts in Linguistics, Cognitive Science, and other people who know their swears.

As you can see from the trailer above, it’s peak Cage mixed with awesome humor. I’m all the way in, so check out the show on January 5th. Nicolas Cage is waiting.
