Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Adds Much Needed Console Feature

I’m normally a console player for Call of Duty games. Modern Warfare 1 was the original reason why I wanted to get Xbox Live. But for years, PC players have had an advantage over console players. And no, it’s not keyboard and mouse support. It’s what’s called FOV. Or field of vision. It allows you to change exactly that, the field that you see. While this isn’t an issue for higher powered PC’s, Treyarch warned that it could mess with framerates on console for Black Ops Cold War.

FOV Is A Much Needed Addition

If you take a look at the comments on that Tweet, it’s a lot of hyped up console players. Whether this means that the gap between PC and console is finally bridged, is a question for another day. It does level the playing field a bit though. We haven’t had a lot of crossplay games except in recent history. But PC players have had the advantage on the battlefield because they can simply see more of it. Hopefully the issues that Treyarch raises aren’t as noticeable on the next-gen machines.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War releases November 13th on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, Playstation 4, and Playstation 5. Players looking to test out the game can try the beta first on Playstation 4 October 8th through October 12th. The open beta for all gamers is October 15th-19th.
